Days of the Week

This days of the week poster cum booklet was inspired by the song above by Super Simple Songs. Did you know the words in this song can super easily be translated into Tamil? This is how (just follow the hyphens):

Sun-day, Mon-day, Tues-day, Wednes-day, Thurs-day, Fri-day, Sat-ur-day…. Ting ting ting ting ting….

ஞா-யிறு, திங்-கள், செவ்-வாய், பு-தன், வியா-ழன், வெள்-ளி, சனிக்-கிழ-மை… Ting ting ting ting ting….

Wasn’t that fun? We’re sure little ones will enjoy singing along in both languages to the same tune and the more often they sing, the faster they’ll catch on the words too!

We’ve made two bilingual files for you to use three ways:

(1) A poster

(2) A booklet

(3) Cut out the pages in the booklet to use as flashcards!

Beyond just the names of the days, we really wanted the images to tickle kids about how they are big, busy adventurers. The beautiful illustrations are the brain child of illustrator Sandhya Prabhat created for the story ‘Today I Am’ (click to read) authored by Varsha Seshan and published by Pratham Books on their StoryWeaver platform under a CC BY 4.0 license. Guest art direction was provided by Mythili Doshi.

A big THANK YOU to Sandhya and to the Storyweaver platform for having made these illustrations possible for use.
